Light in Jerusalem Festival - The Night Garden, Israel

Night Garden fed by solar energy
It's at night that this modest garden during the day gets alive. Huge flowers are illuminated, changing their colors or varying the intensity of their lights. At the same time, an indistinct music comes from somewhere no-one knows. Then, the ambience created is dominated by beauty and tranquility and we could also say that we're in a celestial place. However, we are in one of the most turbulent zones of the world -- the Night Garden, which lies in Israel, in the midst of Jerusalem, was recently released at the 1st "Light in Jerusalem Festival".
Despite of the grass, nothing is natural in this garden. Everything is high-tech-made. The flowers are made of an iron structure covered by metal chain nets, as the leaves and the petals are executed in glass panels cut by laser. The light is provided by multicoloured LEDs fed by a solar-panels-system and storage batteries which garner the energy collected during the day. The project, conceived by the O*GE Studio in partnership with the Israel Electric Corporation, intends to touch people for using non-polluting alternative energies. At night, the whole installations doesn't waste more than 1300 Watts/hour.
